Rochdale 2-2 Doncaster- Match Report

Last updated : 02 April 2016
Doncaster's winless run goes on as Niall Canavan grabs late Rochdale equaliserNiall Canavan's stoppage-time leveller denied Doncaster a relegation lifeline as Rochdale snatched a 2-2 draw at Spotland.Second-half goals from Mitchell Lund and Andy Butler looked set to earn Rovers their first win in 15 Sky Bet League One games but, after Craig Alcock was sent off, Canavan struck to leave them four points adrift of safety.Darren Ferguson's men endured a frustrating first half in which Dale goalkeeper Josh Lillis denied Andy Williams twice before the striker headed over when presented with another chance by Gary McSheffrey.Rochdale created openings of their own, with Grant Holt, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Donal McDermott all going close, before they opened the scoring in the 43rd minute

Visiting goalkeeper Remi Matthews was inexplicably drawn to Ashley Eastham's free-kick, taken from just inside his own half, but was left in no man's land as Callum Camps cushioned a volleyed finish into the goal.Rovers stepped up a gear after the interval

McSheffrey turned the ball into Lillis' net from close range only to be flagged offside but they were rewarded with a 56th-minute equaliser when Lund poked the ball in from three yards from McSheffrey's ball into the box.And things got even better for the visitors in the 68th minute when McSheffrey's free-kick was clipped over the line of Dale defenders and veteran defender Butler capitalised, looping a finish into Lillis' net.Rovers were reduced to 10 men in the 89th minute when Craig Alcock was booked for the second time and Canavan exploited the numerical advantage by slamming home the equaliser from close range
