Rochdale's new look 4-3-3 formation blew away the high flying hosts and but for a series of saves by keeper Alan Fettis and a brace of goal-line clearances that margin of victory would have been much wider.
After an even opening the home side took total control and deserved their lead which was given to them on 42 minutes by leading score r Grant Holt. The powerful striker latched on to an awful backpass by full-back Graham Potter and finished clinically.
The home side doubled their lead on 56 minutes when following good play by loan striker Taiwo Atieno, midfielder Ernie Cooksey arrived at pace to slam home his first goal for the club.
The points were made safe on 66 minutes by skipper Gary Jones who saw his free-kick blocked but followed up with a left-footed volley for his sixth goal of the season.
